BIOMEDevice San Jose |
 |
|
On December six and seven we exhibited for the third year in a row at BIOMEDevice in San Jose, CA. We were joined both days by Rob Trottini of IMT and, on the second day, by Marty Kozlowski of XL Precision Technologies.
Overall show floor traffic appeared to be dramatically lower than previous years, and in fact we recorded only 31 leads during the two days, vs. 73 in 2010 and 69 in 2009.
However, the quality
of the leads themselves was excellent, most of the visitors to our booth being product development engineers in our target markets, and we also had return visits from some big-name potential customers we had met in prior years and continue to stay in touch with. Several indicated new projects starting up in the coming months.
Including multiple counts, seven visitors expressed specific interest in the services of XL-PT, five in IMT, and four in Tectri. Eight leads were searching for other precision manufacturing solutions.
Three visitors expressed immediate requirements for small precision components.
At the suggestion of Jean-Paul Mueller of Tectri at the previous show, we added product images to the back wall as eye-catchers.
We also made a number of very successful customer and supplier visits in the days before and after the show, with two resulting in RFQs.
Despite this year's low volume of leads, San Jose continues to be one of our most effective shows, and we will be back in 2012.
Our next show is MD&M West in Anaheim, CA, February 14-16, 2012.
| November 2/3, 2011 |
MD&M Minneapolis |
 |
 |
 |
 |
On November 2 and 3 we exhibited for the third year at MD&M Minneapolis. I was joined by Mr. Jean-Paul Mueller, Sales and Marketing Manager for our precison machining principal Tectri SA. This was the first time that we exhibited the EDM and lasered products of our new principal XL Precision Technologies (green background, above), as well as the etched glass components of our new Marketing Partner IMT (blue background). As usual we also exhibited a few interesting parts (Micro Swiss turning, MIM, CIM, Electrodeposition, Micro injection and insert molding) from unnamed other suppliers (grey background).
During the two days we collected 44 leads (compared with 37 in 2010 an 60 in 2009). 4 Customers expressed a specific interest in IMT, 4 in Tectri, 2 in XL-PT and 6 in other suppliers. Five visitors had immediate requirements.
There appeared to be more engineers present than last year. However, we share the opinion of other exhibitors that many visitors were there to meet with current contacts, rather than looking for new suppliers.

Growth in Web Traffic |
 |
 |
On September 26 we added our two new partners to the RepExact.com website, with an immediate, significant increase in web traffic. We supported this with emails in Wednesday and Thursday to 777 of our active and prospective customers, with several emails generating immediate business inquiries. We also received a number of friendly "we'll keep you in mind for an upcoming project" responses.
On Thursday, September 29 we registered the highest-ever number of visitors, at 56. Lowest daily visits were 27. This was also the fist week ever that daily visits remained above 25 for the entire week.

2 New Partners |
During the month of September we were pleased to sign on two new partners.
XL Precision Technologies, Ltd. of Teesside, UK specializes in micro EDM and laser processing, from a backgound in the microsurgical and opthalmology markets. RepExact will be representing them in North America in all markets except opthalmology (where they have already established a presence), which will be handled by their own sales engineer, Marty Kozlowski, and Business Development Manager Gary Dionne. Marty will be available to assist RepExact customers in all markets.
IMT Masken und Teilungen AG of Greifensee, Switzerland performs photolithgraphic processes (etching, coatings) on glass. It is our first Marketing Partner, a new offering from RepExact in which we sell our trade show marketing services only - on a fixed payment rather than full commission basis. We will pass on leads, and their Sales Engineer, Rob Trottini, will handle the follow-up and sale.
We look forward to welcoming Marty and Rob at many of our future trade shows.
During our September trip to Europe several additional companies we visited expressed an interest in further discussing representation, and we are confident that more partners will be joining us in the coming months, futher increasing our range of top-quality manfacturer offerings.
| July 26-28, 2011 |
AACC, Atlanta, GA |
 |
 |
From July 26 to 28 we exhibited at AACC (American Association for Clinical Chemistry) in Atlanta, Georgia. Focus of this show is on Laboratory Equipment.
I was very ably assisted by Andrea Walker, whom I hired for the event though the Atlanta Chapter of the American Marketing Association, which also deserves thanks for rapidly distributing my inquiry (I was forced to choose from three excellent candidates).
Though the volume of leads was low at 41 for the three-day event, we made some excellent contacts, with our target audience being other exhibitors (i.e. manufacturers of diagnostic equipment). Much of the interest at the show was in lab-on-chip and other microfluidics.
Since the cost of exhibiting at this show is relatively low, and it takes place in an otherwise slow period, we have decided to sign up for the 2012 show, which will take place July 17-19 in Los Angeles. It is also a good fit for our new partners (see above).
| June 7-9, 2011 |
MD&M East, New York, NY |
 |
 |
 |
|
From June 7-9 we exhibited for the third year in a row at MD&M East at Javits Center in Manhattan, using our custom modular booth.
Floor traffic was decent and we collected 40 leads, not a huge volume but they were of very high quality. Several have already resulted in quote requests, with more pending.
On the first day we were joined by Mr. Matthias Werner, owner of Haller-Jauch of Germany (Micro Swiss Screw Machining). Matthias, many thanks for helping with the setup! On the last day we were briefly joined by Mr. Michael Mebus of Mebus MIM-Technik of Germany, who visited with one of his team members.
MD&M East 2012 will take place in
Philadelphia, PA from May 22-24. Visit us at booth #2446.
| May 24/25, 2011 |
OrthoTec, Warsaw IN |
 |
 |
On May 24 and 25 we exhibited for the second year at OrthoTec in Warsaw, IN, again using our new portable booth. I was joined by Fabien Bouduban of Tectri.
We collected 29 leads (many of high value) during the two days of this small but very specialized show, with two indicating immediate requirements. Warsaw is an amazing town - you couldn't throw a rock there without hitting an orthopaedic OEM or contract manufacturer!
I was able to arrange four customer visits the day after the show, which went very well, with two RFQs.
OrthoTec 2012 will take place June 6-7.
| April 26-28, 2011 |
SPIE DS&S, Orlando FL |
 |
From April 26-28 we exhibited again at SPIE in Orlando, FL.
While the volume of leads was disappointing at 26 for three days, we made some very valuable contacts with key potential customers. I was joined on day 2 and 3 by Fabien Bouduban, CEO and owner of our principal Tectri SA.
This was the first use of our new portable booth, which we intend to use for smaller shows.
On the day after the show Fabien and I had a very productive meeting with a local customer.

Principals Website Update |
Today we launched an update to our Principals website (the one you are currently visiting) that brings it in line graphically with the customer website. Currently only available in English - German, French and Italian pages are to follow.

2 Principals Terminated |
We regret to announce that we had cause to terminate our representation agreements with Siewal Microtubes SA and Podiatec SARL as of February 28, 2011.
We have found other partners capable of performing most of these companies' manufacturing operations, and will refer new inquiries to them.
| February 10, 2011 |
MD&M West Anaheim |
 |
From February 8-10 we exhibited for the third year at MD&M in Anaheim, CA. I was assisted this time by Ken Caputo, who did the same excellent job he had at SPIE in Orlando in 2010.
At 59 leads for the three days, we were below 2009, but above 2010, so the trend appears to be upward again, and the quality of the leads was excellent. Five visitors had immediate requirements. Eleven leads were specifically interested in Tectri, nine in Siewal, one in Podiatec, and eight had other requirements. Of course we mailed information to all visitors, and are following up with emails and phone calls to visitors who expressed upcoming component requirements.
Fabien Bouduban, CEO and owner of Tectri SA, joined us for days two and three, and we held two pre-arranged meetings on the booth with significant customers.
At this show we introduced our new "Marketing Partner" concept to several other exhibitors to remarkable interest. This program is designed to rent space on our custom booth at the six shows we exhibit at per year to manufacturers who already have nationwide sales and/or rep coverage, but are looking to extend their customer reach through trade shows at minimal cost.
MD&M West 2012 will take place from February 14-16. Visit RepExact at booth #3360.
